Motivation Autopsy Activity
In my first year, I did an online condensed Anthropology course. It was run much faster than a regular course and all lectures were through Zoom. I initially took it because I like science and I love learning about new things within the science field. I also needed to take it for my course work. In my first couple of lectures I was very engaged and enjoyed the course material we were given. My motivation started to shift when we continued along and there was a bit less structure. I additionally found the course readings extended too far in what we should already know. It was a lot of extra information for me to go through and read. I found I needed autonomy and relevance for my learning needs to be met. Due to the lack of structure and the extra information, I found myself disengaged with the course. If done differently with a more structured class with readings that were just focused on what we were learning that week, I would find myself much more engaged with the course work and would have enjoyed it more. I would also probably have retained more information that was relevant to the course work.
